The Ferrari 296 GT3 Emerges Victorious At The Daytona 24-Hour Race

The Ferrari 296 GT3 achieved a remarkable feat at the 62nd edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona, marking a significant milestone for the Prancing Horse as it returned to victory at the renowned American endurance race, coincidentally on the 10th anniversary of its previous win. Piloted by official drivers Daniel Serra, Davide Rigon, Alessandro Pier Guidi, and James Calado, the Risi Competizione's number 62 296 GT3 dominated the GTD Pro class, completing 733 laps to secure the win. This triumph came in the first race of the IMSA SportsCar Championship's 2024 season, with the crew outperforming the number 77 Porsche at the finish line. Ferrari's last success at Daytona dated back to 2014 in the GTD class, with Pier Guidi and his teammates claiming victory.

Additionally, AF Corse secured second place in GTD, followed by Conquest Racing in third and Triarsi Competizione's Ferrari in fourth, enhancing the significance of the event at the iconic Daytona International Speedway, where the 296 GT3 made its debut a year earlier. Cetilar Racing's 296 GT3 also made an impressive showing, initially charging ahead but gradually losing momentum as the race progressed.

This victory marked Ferrari's 17th class triumph at the historic endurance race in Florida, adding to its illustrious history in motorsport dating back to the 1960s. Notably, Ferrari has secured five overall wins on the Daytona banking. Previous victories include Pier Guidi's win in 2014 with Level Five Motorsport's 458 Italia GT3 and the overall win in 1998 with the Ferrari 333 SP of the Momo/Doran team. Ferrari's legacy at Daytona also includes memorable successes such as Stirling Moss's class victory in 1962 with the Ferrari 250 GT and Lorenzo Bandini and Chris Amon's overall win in 1967 with the Ferrari F330 P3/P4.
